American Highlight: Bulleit Bourbon

Better than A Shot in the Dark!

Even though it may not seem to be one of the most known names in the Whisky industry, it is certainly one that is rich with a deep history that dates back to the early 1800's. In 1987 a man by the name of Tomas E. Bulleit Jr, finally got the chance to fulfill a dream that was set for by his family generations earlier. After leaving a successful law practice, Thomas risked everything to follow in the steps of his great-great-grandfather Augustus Bulleit, who made a notorious rye whiskey in his day.

In his early days Augustus Bulleit was dedicated to accomplishing his lifes goal of creating a bourbon that tasted different than all of the others. After much trial and error he finally got what he was working so tirelessly for. One day, without notice and while transporting his barrels of bourob from Kentucky to New Orleans, Augustus vanished without a trace. With his recipe nearly vanishing with him, we are lucky to have the ability to enjoy this wonderful product today.

Now, even to day, their Bourbon is distilled and aged the same way it was back in the early 1800's. The high ry content gives the spirit a spicy and bold flavor while also allowing it to be smooth as it hits your throat. Much like many other Kentucky spirits, Bulleit filters its bourbon through limestone filters and stores their product in oak barrels. Their carried out traditions allow their name, brand and product to be enoyed for years so take a stop on their website and learn more about "Bulleit Frontier Whisky"
